Australia Visa FAQs
All persons, other than Australian citizens require a visa or authority to enter Australia. All Indian citizens require an Australia visa.
Applicants are advised to apply for an Australia Visa in advance but not earlier then 90 days prior to the date of travel. The Australian High Commission recommends that you apply at least 3 weeks prior to your date of travel to accommodate any unforeseen processing delays.
You should not purchase non-refundable tickets or accommodation prior to the grant of a visa. Any such purchases are the sole responsibility of the visa applicant. The Department of Home Affairs recommends that you lodge your Australia Visa application well ahead of your proposed travel date and finalize travel arrangements after visa issue.
The Australia Visa is an E-Visa i.e. it is not a Sticker visa endorsed on the passport, once decision is taken by the Australian High Commission; E-Visa will be mailed on the registered Email ID which is mentioned on the visa form.
Typically 3 months. You can request for a longer stay duration, but be sure to include proof/justification. Validity of the Australia visa is at the discretion of the Embassy.
If you want to stay in Australia longer than your original visa lets you, you will need to apply for a further visa of the same kind or another Australia visa. How much longer you can stay in Australia will depend on the visa that you have, or the visa that you apply for. If you have a ‘No further stay’ condition on your Australia Visa, you cannot apply for a new visa while you are in Australia. You must leave Australia no later than the date on which your visa ends.
All travellers applying for an Australia Visa must meet the health requirement. Whether you are required to undergo a medical examination and/or chest x-ray depends on your age, how long you intend to stay in Australia and your intended activity in Australia. You will be notified post submission of your Australia visa application if a medical examination is required.
No. If a medical and/or x-ray examination is required, the New Delhi visa office will notify you after your Australia visa application is lodged. You will then need to make arrangements to attend an approved immigration panel doctor of your choice.
